ver 4 install on NT 4.

tried to install ver 4 pro on an NT 4 machine with sp6a. the install states the machine needs sp4 or greater. I reinstalled sp6a to make sure, but I get the same message. anyone have any idea how to get around this?

Open regedit and look in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows key for a value called CSDVersion. It should be at least 0x00000400 (that is, SP4). Is it?

it is 0x00000600

Search for a file called setup.log on your hard drive (possibly in a temp directory) and post it. It should contain more info.

setup.log attached as setuplog.txt

had to rename the file, forum says that file name is already in use. twice is has said that. try it again as setlog.txt. sorry for any inconvience. :-[ ???

Oops, sorry that’s not the correct one.

You know what? Maybe the setup is deleting the file when exiting. Try searching for it when you have the error message saying you need SP4 displayed on the screen (i.e. while the setup is still running).

Should be somewhere at %TEMP%\avinst

Thanks

there is no file under avinst

Sorry for the delay, I got frustrated and busy. This is regarding the post about the setuplog.txt file that didn’t exist. And, installation stating I needed at least SP4 when I already have SP6. The only file I found was a log file which I cut & pasted into a Word doc. Hope this helps you help me.
