verbal alert of update disappeared.

I had Avast free home edition installed just over 1 year ago. It was programmed to update on a daily basis and to alert me verbally that the update had been successful. Some months ago this stopped and in addition to this I have had to perform the updates manually. The drawback here is that days and days go by before I remember to do this.

I haven’t altered the configuration of the Avast setup to cancel the automatic updates and when I look at the windows security centre and Automatic update facility is turned on (green).

I have also looked through all the options in the avast! On-Access Scanner window and not found any boxes to check or uncheck on this subject.

Could someone please provide a solution to this problem. Thank you

I also have another security problem and I don’t know if it is related or not. However I will start a new thread for it

Hi…

Try a repair installation, this might solve the problem.

If you’re running Windows XP, just go to the Control Panel and click on “Add/Remove Programs” and then click on Avast. It should give you the option there.

Thank you aarvark. I am running Vista. Would it be the same?

Hi…

No, it’s under a different name with Vista, Programs and Features.
