Verizon Remote Diagnostic Must be Removed (it won't uninstall)

Trying to activate the anti theft part of Avast Mobile on my ICE (non-rooted) Droid Razr. It’s telling me that Verizon Remote Diagnostic has to be uninstalled for the anti theft part to work. Gives me the option to uninstall it, then says it’s uninstalling. When I click on OK, the next screen says the uninstall wasn’t successful. I even went into manage apps and force stopped the app. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to activate this part of Avast Mobile?
Thanks,
Monica

Google hits say it’s not removable. On the phone with Verizon right now. They also say it’s not able to be uninstalled. If my phone was rooted, would it work then?

Hi,

it should be removable on rooted devices, yes.

Is there any chance of Avast creating a fix or workaround for this? I don’t think the answer, to use the product, is to root your phone and void the warranty or worse, brick it.

Well it’s more of a warning than a fact. The only thing you can do is try it. If you send a command to Anti-Theft and it responds correctly and the command is not shown anywhere on your phone (in your messaging application for example), then you are fine and can ignore the warning (at your own risk of course).
