I too am not in the habit of sitting at my computer with a stop watch, however this 18.3.2333 UI does load noticeably quicker without the requirement of a stopwatch. This was on my general test system, XP Pro SP3 Desktop
That said, I did break out my stopwatch, used on my morning exercise:
I did a test on loading the existing UI with all of the normal programs I would have loaded/running before update, that took 6.03 seconds.
I then completed the update including the update and once things had settled down ran the test again, this took 3.64 seconds. This was with negligible programs running (startups only) so no additional load.
Now I loaded those programs I use regularly and started the UI again, no difference really loaded in 3.59 seconds. I may have been a little quicker on the buttons this time as the first ones caught me out a little.
Looks like the duration of the scan (incorrectly reported as a few seconds) in Scan History has been resolved. I ran a Quick Scan and timed it at 3 minutes and 2.47 seconds. The scan History reported it as 3 minutes for 22253 files in 5742 folders for 7.8GB of data.
EDIT: Interestingly scan details prior to this update are now reporting what would appear to be actual times and not the ‘a few seconds’ text they previously displayed.
A good stable release which hasn’t seemed to introduce any new bugs. The UI opening is a bit faster than before but can still be significantly improved.
More works needs to be done to:
fix the delay of Avast notification alerts and the sound. Currently, the sound comes first and then the notification alert later… they should be in sync.
add useful stats to the Scan UI
start planning to bring the stats back for the shields
Did the update using the full offline installer on both machines and it went well. But on my old Dell Dimension 8200 P4 1.6Ghz 2GB RAM with XP PRO SP3 it does take a little while to put the Avast Icon in the System Tray … It loads much faster on my Toshiaba Laptop with Windows 10 Home 64 Build 1709 (that machine has Celeron B830 at 1.8GHZ & 4GB RAM)
