Hi All,
Compliments on this version. All working better and firewall now working with IPV6 emails. After doing this update I noticed my email signature (notes) are that if the old style . . .
Avast logo
This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software.
rather than the new look . . .
Virus-free. www.avast.com
Not an issue, just wondering if the new signature design can be restored.
ALSO, any chance we can add a pause for scanning and option to shut down, sleep and turn off post a scan ??
Patiently waiting for Windows 10 1803 Release, then so reinstalling Avast, planning on a Clean install of Spring Creators 1803, as was switching between Avast and Defender trying both to see which one i really liked on my newer system, decision made to stick with Avast, now just have to wait til 1803 fully released, then get it installed cleanly, and make sure system up to date, then update a few drivers, then reinstall Avast i think when done with that.
if that is proper way to do that, installing the Drivers first, then Avast once all that in before other 3rd party programs
Yes, installing drivers first is a good idea to avoid any compatibility issues / false-detections (not that I’ve experienced any), but at the same time you want to minimize your PC’s exposure to activity without Avast protection up and running.
Right from the time we were told it was being removed for a revision/revamp some considerable time ago, we are talking years not months ago.
Personally I’m not particularly fond of stats (lies, damn lies and statistics) and one way or another won’t lose any sleep over there non return. But if they say they will be back after a revision, I at least expect them to follow through on it.
don’t worry the bugs are still there but well hidden
- fix the delay of Avast notification alerts and the sound. Currently, the sound comes first and then the notification alert later... they should be in sync.
working on it, hopefully next release
- add useful stats to the Scan UI
- start planning to bring the stats back for the shields
stats won’t return earlier than Q3/Q4…focus is now on settings and licensing
Indeed, the stats have been removed for years (in June 2016, no?), Which does not prevent that they had to be postponed when avast would have a little time (one or two months).
You said it yourself that the return was planned for September 2016 at the time. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=188174.msg1323444#msg1323444
I also know that you have many times given your opinion on the disinterest of this tool, I think it is clear, but also know that there are other users who find an interest
As far as I’m concerned, I’ve been repeating myself since time, I found an interest in the 5 lines of avast analysis in real time, in a glance one’s eye over we could see what was happening in the background (opening of files, third site annalised, …)
Did a clean install of 18.3.2333 AIS only to find avast disabled on reboot.
Inserted license and avast activated.
Went to GUI to run some features and several were missing.
See attached below for missing paid for features:
Did a repair and no change.
Did a change, confirmed features were ticked off, no change.
Considered a system image backup to restore system to latest image
Remembered a bug (this one has been in place for several years now) in SecureDNS/Real Site that required a system reboot with the internet connected to activate even when disabled.
Rebooted to enable this feature.
I rebooted eight times before I successfully hit on this fix.
Hint: Seems an avast server is needed to validate features on install and this is done at first run very early in the system boot.
[EDIT:] Didn’t say, but all six missing features were live and accessible after the last reboot while connected to the internet.
Still getting “Behavior Shield Not Enabled” on the XP PRO SP3 computer … Happened a couple of times so far, since the latest version of Avast Free was installed. No issues on the Windows 10 Home 64 bit computer.
Hello,
When installing the program, I selected the following component:security browser extension.
After installation, I can not see it in the Chrome browser add-ons. I should see the following in the extensions:Avast Online Security?
What is the reason why the plugin is not installed yet? Regards
yes it should install Avast Online Security to Chrome, but you still need to activate it in Chrome…(Google rules)…if you open the CHrome extensions page it’s not there?
I’m running Avast free, and updated from 17.9.2322 to 18.3.2333 via the GUI. Now the system tray icon is animated all the time, slowly changing from the original blob to a circle and back again, without any scan running. Is this the way it’s supposed to be, does it mean anything?
