Hi, my avast free edition has just autoupdated to ver. 5.1.822 why no mention of this or changelog on the forum? ??? ???

Do you have your settings as:

  • GUI > Settings > Updates > Program > Automatic Update
    or
  • GUI > Settings > Updates > Program > Ask when an Update is Available or Manual Update

@SS Even if its set as mentioned by you, it will not update to beta. I just tried a manual update via the GUI, it didn’t show the beta. So automatic update shouldn’t do that either.

Did you accidentally hit the “Update” button on the main GUI page to get to the beta program?
