Version 5? 2 days left?

Hi
I heard version 5was due out in October (fromt he avast.blog)

2 days left!

Hiya Pete!

Either you are psychic (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=50357.0) OR

great minds think alike!

Haha, im a sucker for new releases.

Reason Im keen is that currently I cant recommend avast to less technical users unless I personally install it as there are a few tasks I change from the default (better skin (default is horrible mediaplayer style), changing updates to do program AND defs(not just defs), turning up residential shield to high, etc.) whereas version 5 looks good out the packet - stylish, usable Gui (which is the main gripe of v.4 - people get lost).

I got hold of a beta, totally trashed my machine when it was installed, but hoping release will be more complete.

Mid November maybe.

I like V5 out of the box and did not see any reason to tweak it.

Whoa! You must really be on the same wavelength! I have exactly the same settings!!

Can’t wait for the release! As the Geordies say, “Howay the lads!”.

Best wishes,

Ok.

Im going with great minds, its the ONLY way to set up avast

I’ve left program updates to “advise only”, since they’re not that often plus they’re fairly big compared to the defs and it’s simpler to download and install them at my convenience rather than automatically.

If I understand correctly (and, in case there’s any confusion, I haven’t played with the beta), program updates in 5 will in effect be incremental, similar to the defs, and it’ll be logical to change everything over to auto once it’s finally released.
