Version 8 is not updating to 9 on dialup connection - HELP

My Aunt has Avast 8 (pretty sure it’s the free version) on her computer, and she lives out in the country with no access to anything but dial up Internet connections. She has let the update run FOREVER, but it cycles through a division or 2 in the download, but then it doesn’t completely download. It just goes back to Version 8 and will not update to Version 9.

Can I just uninstall Avast 8 and install Avast 9 using the downloadable installer? I’ll download it, put it onto a flash drive, and see if I can get Version 9 on her Vista computer.

That’s great. I’ll just run the installer and hope it covers Version 8 with Version 9. I’ll try it tomorrow night. Thanks very much for your help!
