Version History

I noticed that although a new version of avast! (4.7.1074) was released on October 25, your revision history page still shows the previous version (4.7.1043). Here is your link:

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-home_pro-revision-history.html

I don’t know if this is an oversight or not, but some software boards (like filehippo.com) have not updated their listings to allow downloading of the latest version.

Thanks.

Version 4.7.1074 is not quite official (yet).
Plus, tt cannot be downloaded from anywhere (including the download section of avast.com).

Another version will be released soon.
The only way to go to 4.7.1074 is to (manually) use the Program Update feature of the avast user interface. To be honest though, I’d rather recommend waiting for the upcoming version and only then perform the program update (or, generally, wait for avast itself to ask you to perform the update).

Thanks
Vlk

Thanks!

This is a very old topic but it needs to be resurrected.

So, where is the complete version / release history page?

It used to be here: https://www.avast.com/release-history but now it redirects to front page. And I can’t find any similar page anywhere. Why was it removed?

EDIT: https://www.avast.com/virus-update-history page is available, why a lot more useful version history page is not?

There is work in progress on the website.

And I can't find any similar page anywhere
Never heard of search engines? ;)

Since the avast.com site has had a revamp the link no longer works and my quick hunt even for a search function in avast.com I couldn’t even find that.

I had a whole stack of handy reference URL that are now redundant since the site update.

Eddy this doesn’t help, if you are so hot on search engines why didn’t you post a link. Not only that but many hits on search engines are going to fail as they too are old and get redirected to the main index page. Even the site map is cr4p, everything appears to be product/sales driven.

So Hitting everyone that asks a question over the head with the search engines quip isn’t helpful. If you can’t find it easily in avast.com then that is a major failing of the main site.

Thanks DavidR for the support.

So are the webpages still under construction? Or is this just a permanent “product/sales driven, cut down information” executive decision on Avast part? So sad to see that currently the trend is to dumb down programs and websites.

I’ve not updated Avast for a while and now I would like to find out what versions have been released and read the changelogs BEFORE I update anything. I do this with every software, and especially with something as crucial as AV.

It has certainly had a recent revamp, as to whether it is complete or not, as an avast user like yourself I just don’t know.

It certainly needs more work to make it more user friendly easy to navigate and to be able to find things, not to have a search function seems to be a failing.

You could check out the Avast Free/Pro/IS/Premier forum, there will always be a sticky for the most recent release. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=179855.0

After that you could try scrolling through the listings to see other releases and there is always the forum search (I know) that one is going to be hard as there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to delimit results.

A URL I have of a previous release last 2015 version 10.4.2233 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=176600.0.

Wading through the forum for a few topics that have release info? Topics that might be in random order because of the last posted messages? No thanks, I have better things to do with my limited time. Crap, I guess I’m not then upgrading… perhaps a time to check the competition?

If Avast keeps on being dumb, perhaps people here in forum could make a new sticky topic with complete history? Wouldn’t take too much time to copy a release topic content to the sticky topic every time a new release is posted?

Though, I remember vaguely that in the past I have seen discrepancies in the forum release topic changelog and the “official” website changelog.

And I can't find any similar page anywhere.
Filehippo has change log filehippo.com

The people who do most of the helping on this forum are avast users just like you, so who do you think should do the wading through topics - we too have limited time and I have just given you the links to the last two regular program releases.

So I hope you have better luck with the competition if you aren’t prepared to wade through information or are you just going to go for the latest version, which would be no different to going with the last avast release.

As I said the people here in the forums are for the most part avast users.

Thanks. Do you know if that’s reliable? I mean does they list every version of a program?

Did I ask you to do it?

?! How is that the same thing? You don’t make sense. Please.

And? The Avast person who creates the new release topic could in under 1 minute update the sticky topic of complete history of changes. Copy new version text from the created new version topic, open the changelog topic, create a new post or edit 1st post which has all versions (whatever would work nicest), paste text, save. Too difficult?

In the time it took you to place your posts here, you could have created a list yourself.

to my knowledge it is a copy of the info given when avast release a new version
I mean does they list every version of a program?
Beta versions are not listed at filehippo

Absolutely!
If I need information about anything, I research, search, synthesize and compile the information independently.

Up for a challenge? Create a list of 5 last versions and tell us the time it took you, and be honest. If you manage to do it in about 5 mins, then I congratulate you.

No thanks, I have better things to do with my limited time.
Creating useless posts is not what I would consider as "better things to do".

While this is in the German section, most info (we collect it since years) is in English.

Nice link!
Thanks Asyn, I wasn’t aware of that particular link to version information.
Nice.

Edit: Interestingly I see no version 4 info which is the version I started with (unless I missed the info.)

Asyn may not have been here at that time. If that’s the case, it’s also our loss.
