hi
i’ve just downloaded the version 4.x update file.but when i run the file it says plz download the latest version and full setup using program! even though i’m using the 4.7
i donno what’s the problem.maybe i should tell u that i’m using zone alarm security suite beside avast!
plz help me in update my program.
What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 4.7.1043 and 071106-0 (see about avast! right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select about avast) ?
Why are you downloading the update file (for an off-line system, etc.) ?
There are times when things change in the VPS that require the latest update of the program.
Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.
i’m using 4.7 pro edition.and the vps’s version is 000703-1.
Please, post the last 100-150 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
The part behind the 7 is important also as that will show what the detailed version is and if it is out of date. Your VPS is well out of date and there has been a new VPS version naming format introduced, as you can see from my example the VPS version is in date format, year 07, month 11, day 06, -0 first VPS update of that day.
You didn’t answer the other question.
Why are you downloading the update file (for an off-line system, etc.) ?
4.7.942 is the version.
as answer to other question i downloaded it for my home pc and also it’s online
soon i’ll post the setup.log lines.
plus i have downloaded the latest updates from http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html.
4.7.942 is the version
The latest version is 4.7.1074 until next week. There are programs improvements and it is very advisable to use the latest one.
maybe the reason is, that the new version of program doesn’t work with his serial number, hm? ;D
I can’t believe… Are we losing time? ???
something like http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31241.0 i guess… but i don’t know without having seen the SN…
I believe that build 942 might really not work with the latest VPS - i.e. a program update is needed.
maybe i should use the latest version.
i donno what’s wrong.when it comes to automatic upload it works pretty good.but i can’t do it manually.
every time avast tries automatic updating an zone alarm shows an alert.i choose deny cuz i don’t want it to update itself automatically.i think my license is expired.does it affect updating?
anyways here is the first 200 lines of setup.log file.help me plz
You have to update the program. So, download the full installer from our home page (or you actually already did) adn start it - it should detect the existing installation and offer you the possibility to perform the update.
Once you have the new version, the offline VPS updates should work again.
If your license/registration is out of date it will stop you from updating the VPS. If you download the latest Pro version you would need to enter your license key.
Obviously you will have to confirm if your License is in date or not, this info is also on the about avast where you got the other info I asked for.
Why block the updates using the firewall, use the avast Program Settings, Update (Basic) and set the VPS update to Check and ask or set it to Manual. However based on your out of date VPS I would suggest you leave it on Auto or at least use Ask, the avast VPS updates are incremental and take usually seconds to download and update.
every time avast tries automatic updating an zone alarm shows an alert.i choose deny cuz i don’t want it to update itself automatically.
So set avast to update manually both program and virus database.
i think my license is expired.does it affect updating?
Sure. You can’t update an expired installation unless you add the new key.
