is there any chance to make a lightweight avast? After the installation, was 150 mb, instead of 520 mb
Lightweight to me, means how light it run on the system and not the size
Anyway you can remove any module you dont want http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB96#artTitle
You are talking about size. As Pondus mentioned, light refers to the amount of system resources
the program uses.
It simply means you get full protection without sacrificing computer usability.
You don’t say what avast version you are using as that would have an impact on the size after installation.
Given that the installation file for avast free is 87.6 MB and that is highly compressed - once unpacked and installed it will be much larger.
The virus database is one of the largest elements - if the full database was downloaded manually it would be over 50MB, again highly compressed. My installed size for the free version is currently 406MB.
The size on disk will fluctuate as new virus definitions are added to the database - after each VPS update there is some duplication of virus definition folders (C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs). Avast does periodic house keeping which will reduce the size, but you will see fluctuation in the overall installed size.
The size of the current VPS (virus definitions) folder 14101900 is 79.5MB, so you could have the previous VPS folder (which would be very close to the same size) present if avast hadn’t done its housekeeping when you checked.
I have just, in the installer selected: in category covers, 3 items in category tools 1 items, and Polish language. not all
These additions in tools, language, etc. are over and above the full program installation and they themselves will represent a very small fraction of the programs size. You can’t stop the virus definitions being installed or the other functionality to allow avast to act as a resident on-access scanner.
