Hallo i try to load war rock today and avast showed a message Warrock.exe is a Win32:Trojan-gen {other}.I tried to upload the file but get back a message 0 bytes uploaded what should i do?I m totally newbie at all these.
You don’t say where you tried to upload the file to (avast or virus total below), if to VT then it is possible that avast alerted when you tried to upload it and that would result in a 0 byte file size, see below on how to avoid that.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
If it is indeed a false positive, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34950.msg293451#msg293451, how to report it to avast! and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.
I cant do what u suggested i told u i m newbie.Anyway is there a way on the warning to do an action and make the game load?Wich tab should i press?Move/rename delete move to box??I allready try repair but nothing happened
Repair won’t do anything as a) trojans generally can’t be repaired b) assuming that it was even correctly detected.
avast will not allow the game to load or any file to run if it thinks it is infected, when detected, clicking No Action just means take none of the listed actions, but it won’t allow the file to be run. You would have to exclude the file from scans in the same way I mentioned about the suspect folder but for the file. However, that should never be done unless the detection has been proven to be a false positive.
Pause the standard shield, left click the avast ‘a’ icon, in the window that pops-up if there is a Details… >> button click it. You should now see a more detailed view of all the shields, select the Standard Shield and click Pause. You will need to reverse this process (when you have copied the file to the suspect folder that you created) this time clicking the Continue button.
