Hello,
My phone just got reset and I cant access my Passwords !
I went through the faq, and it says to look for the e-mail sent from avast.
I luckily found it… but it asking me to “enter the master password created when I first sync the vault”
I dont remember that, all I remember is the 4 digit small password i opted for.
I only have 1 attempt left… please help me
Hello, number of tries is not limited, the only thing we do on mobile devices we postpone another tries as in case of PIN has been used the entire space for master password is quite small and attacker can expect PIN has been used so brute force may be quite easy. So you can try it as many times you want but on mobile device the wait timeout is going to be extended with each unsuccessful try. You may figure out the backup password on windows as I can see you have tried add windows device into the group, there is no such limit. If it helps I can see that your backup password should be the one you have set as master password on device named HTC melsuhl_htc_asia_india at Mar 22, 2016.
Thanks for the reply…
HTC was my old phone, I switched from that to MOTO now…
I tried several tries on PC and on Android… But it’s not working… Try to understand, you yourself gives option to keep the easy 4 digit pin to log into passwords everytime, and I do that many times a day… It’s obvious I will forget the master password I set more than a year ago.
Please help… I need to sync, I have lot of important stuff… I’m stuck !
Please reply if there is any solution…
Otherwise I will have to contact all other logins and service providers…
And will better be using some other service for my passwords and PC security.
I used password keeper because I cant remember them…
and you are asking me to remember a year old password.
There is no solution to reset the password as we have never knew it and we will never do. It is also not stored anywhere anytime, this is the key for your data safety. So the only option to get access to your data is remember the password. If you are sure it was PIN then there is 10000 options and I if you use some patterns as most people do you can significantly reduce the scope for revealing it.
Phew… I tried it again and it worked… Thanks ur reply helped me recollect the mistake I was making…
Im going to write everything as a good old foolproof backup now…
and advice everyone to make sure you never loose the “Master Password”
