Has anyone ever heard of this virus? If so, what did you do to get rid of it? Avast recognizes that it is there but I can’t get rid of it. Not sure where I picked it up at. Please help.
What does Avast identify the file concerned as?
What is the full original filename and path?
What happens when you attempt to quarantine it using Avast?
Hi bsanow
Download DDS and save it to your Desktop from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr
Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
* When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop. Post DDS.txt back to topic. (Additional Options… > Browse)
Tarq,
I’m attempting to get the Avast pop up to show up again so I can do a screenshot and post on there. As far as trying to quarantine Avast never gives me the option to do so.
It’s not a webshield alert, is it?
I’m not sure what you mean by a webshield alert?
There are different shields used by Avast. One of them, the webshield, pops up a notification if a page you are about to visit has detected malware on it. It simultaneously blocks the page - or the infected element of the page - from loading in the browser, and pops up a warning at the bottom right.
If this is what happened, the file would not be on your computer, as you haven’t downloaded it.
Do not assume from the above description that you are malware-free, however. (Although you may be.) The above is a description of what happens, and appears to fit with the info you’ve provided.
It is possible that what you are talking about could be the issue. If the problem persists I’ll copy it and repost to this topic. Thanks for your help!
Have you run an Avast scan since first seeing the alert? Do so.
Also, if anything is found, you should follow the advice by Argus.
If you right click the avast icon down by the clock, then there is a “show last pop-up” ( if you have not restarted )
in top right corner of the pop-up there is also a pin, click it and the pop-up is pinned to the screen
googling the name i find some stuff…
