I’m sooo frustrated. Up until a few days ago the Avast Video Downloader worked like a charm. Now it is working inconsistently. I have been able to download some videos, but there are some that I cannot.
After much experimentation, I can now see the Video Downloader icon in the settings button and click on it, but it tells me that there are no videos on that page for both the above videos. Help would be appreciated.
Hi Karen245,
thank you for reporting this. We will release a new version of Video Downloader very soon! But at the same time, if there is some restriction for downloading the video, we can’t change it, sorry.
Bob, if you have our Browser in Beta, you already should have the new version (2.0.45). If you’ll have some feedback about it, don’t hesitate to let me know please
The only problem I’ve had was related to importing Bookmarks from the browser (Chrome) as reported on the Slack channel.
Everything else is working as expected. Passwords by default seem to be set to the Browser.
Once changed over to the Avast Passwords Manager, that also works as expected.
The Video Downloader does Not work while in Bank Mode. (This is as it should be)
I’ve checked the Video Downloader again in normal mode and it works on my channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56HhqXJll48)
where there aren’t any download restrictions. I can’t download the examples Karen245 listed.
Hi Bob and Karen245,
unfortunately we had a problem with release, so new Video Downloader is not released neither in beta. We are working on this and hopefully the release will be next week.
I also checked the videos that Karen245 provided in post above and they can be downloaded with the new version. We’ll let you know :)!
The video’s posted by Karen245 are not restricted or protected. I was able to download them with other tools.
Hope the problem with the Video Downloader is resolved soon.
Hi @Misa Zekovova.Just wanted to make avast! aware that the video downloader is not working on Dailymotion anymore either. I’m not sure when the problem started exactly, but it was a couple of months ago that I first noticed it. I’m sure I’ve been able to download Dailymotion vids with the built-in downloader on ASB in the past (please accept my apologies and ignore this post if I’m remembering wrongly and it has never worked on this site). I’ve tried many different videos, all of them publically viewable. Would you mind taking a look into Dailymotion as well when you’re working on your next version of the downloader? Many thanks!
Hi @bob3160. Yes I do have developer mode switched on. I just pressed “update” but was not clever enough to take a note of the downloader version before doing this to see if it changed. I then restarted the browser and gave downloading on DM a go and lo behold we have lift off! So I’m not sure if I received a new version of the downloader or if there is another reason why it’s working now, but it is actually working better than I recall when I used it before! So my earlier post may be ignored.
I’m also experiencing this issue off and on; I have uninstalled/reinstalled Avast Secure Browser, cleared cache/cookies, updated Video Downloader extension, and disabled all other extensions except Video Downloader, and it’s like the application crashes while certain videos load. The download button appears, but nothing happens when I click it.
we released a fix for the Youtube problem today, please restart your browser to receive the newest Video Downloader. Fix version is number 2.2.81, don’t hesitate to double check that in your diagnostic information (secure://settings/help). Let me know if that helps.
