Video Downloader

The Video Downloader is still not working despite this from last November
Rest assured, we are committed to improving this feature and will be reworking the extension from scratch. * :rage:*
How soon is very soon?

Hey everyone,

We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your patience and continued support. We know many of you are eagerly waiting for our New Video Downloader extension, and we truly appreciate your loyalty.

Right now, we’re still in the design phase, carefully working through the details to ensure we deliver the best experience possible. We understand that delays can be frustrating, and we’re sorry for the wait—we just want to make sure we get it right.

The good news is that we’re making great progress, and we’re aiming for a launch in April! :tada: We’ll keep you updated along the way, and we can’t wait for you to try it out.

Thank you for sticking with us—we couldn’t do this without you!

Okay so we are now into May and still no word on when Video downloader will be fixed.
Plenty of pop ups and short cuts for Avast being dumped on my desktop though.
Something has gone awry with this once great app

Its been broken for over a year now with lots of hints of imminent fix/release times that never come.
That’s a long time to be paying a full amount for an app that has a broken feature like this.
If its never going to be repaired please just be honest with us.

Hi @user2250, and thanks for your continued patience.

We completely understand your frustration, and we want to reassure you that we’re absolutely still committed to delivering the new Video Downloader feature. It’s a key part of the experience, and we know how important it is to many of you.

We’ve faced some unexpected challenges along the way, including having to address some critical P1 bugs that took priority in order to maintain stability across the platform. Our goal has always been to release a version that’s not just functional, but truly reliable — and we don’t want to rush that process at the cost of quality.

The good news is that we’re now set to begin rolling out the new Video Downloader starting 14th July. We’ll be doing this in phases to ensure everything runs smoothly, and we’ll keep you updated along the way.

Thank you again for sticking with us — we know it’s been a long wait, and we’re working hard to make it worth it.

Just tried this new downloader. Issues so far:

1.VERY slow to download video files
2.VERY slow for ‘save to’ window to open
3. Only format it does save in is a .webm. No apparent option for mp4

@user2250

Thank you for your feedback — I’ve shared it with the team, and they’ll be addressing this before the full launch.

I’ll provide an updated build with the improvements as soon as it becomes available.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!

 1. Some videos I have tried wont allow the option to download (no download options appear). Very hit and miss which are available and which arent. (This is on YouTube so far)

Download is hanging at about two thirds through the download process

That could simply be due to the video being protected or using some form of proprietary encoding. Some content on YouTube is restricted from being downloaded by the platform itself, especially official music videos or copyrighted material. It’s pretty common for certain videos to block download options depending on licensing or the uploader’s settings.

Download hanging = we will get the team to look into this. Thanks

Drop down for video size is erratic. For the same video it might give several size options then it might only give 360p. Once selected for download may then downloaded the last video that I looked at on the browser.
