Virtual folders erronously scanned when scanning external drive

I disconnect a drive from another system and connects it to my own as H:, and scan it. Avast will then scan every folder on the disk, including virtual folders. In the end I get a result that looks like the included attachement, showing some bad files on H: and at the top a problem opening H:\Documents and Settings\Runar\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost.

The problem is that the User “Runar” is not a user on H:. “Runar” is me, and I am a user on C:.
The reason why this happens is that Avast tries to open the virtual folder H:\Documents and Settings which Microsoft has set due to bacwards compatibility to point to systemdrive\users. Therefore to Avast it appears that H:\Documents and Settings\Runar\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost and all other files in H:\Documents and Settings\ appear to be on H: while they in reality all are on the C:-disk.

I just realized that I’m not using the latest Avast version, I’m still using v7. So this issue might have been fixed in v8. It’s also probably not an easy thing to fix, and it’s not a big issue to me any more now that I know why my own user appear in the result list every time I scan external system drives.

Why not scan with avast! (if it is installed) on the original system to see if this is actually an issue?

Seems as if some of the reported files are actually .dll’s related to Video Downloadhelper converter functions that are related possibly to the use of Firefox on that system. VDH would have to be used as a FF add-on the originating system. It would seem the only way to ensure the detections are valid and correct is to scan this drive as attached to the original system and not have this scan done on the second system. Reason is, the operating system environment is different in the first computer from the second one that you use to scan the drive in some unspecified way and avast! detects this. Care to share what that difference might be?
