Virtual Macine Protection

OK, got a question. If I run software from a virtual machine, and I am protected on the host machine, do I need to double up the protection on the virtual machine? I’m really not worried about destroying the virtual in case of an issue, but I’m curious, would the outside connection catch the inbound … stuff, AND, is the host system safe from anything that gets into the virtual machine?

Thinking on Sunday,…Go figure.

You won’t protect the virtual machine unless you install avast on it.
The host operational system is independent of the virtual one.
But, if you don’t worry on loosing everything, let the virtual unprotected.
The host system is safe from any virtual activity 8)

Not necessarely. Web Shield and Internet Mail providers will indeed protect your Virtual PC since they’ll both intercept malware before it even actually enters Virtual PC (it will detect it on host system while being transitioned from internet → host → Virtual PC). I’ve tested that and it works.

Thanks for the correction RejZoR. WebShield I could understand, what surprises me is the Internet Mail provider…
