New to this forum tool. Anyway, I had a Virtumonde virus on my computer. I found a forum at bleepingcomputer.com and did the steps they require. Upon finishing, they said to post the scan results. Is it, well was it safe to post my scan results and logs in the post. Nothing was zipped or password protected or anything like that. I just copied and pasted the results. Was that stupid to do or will it be okay? And by the way, can anyone tell me why Avast didn’t pick up on this virus?
Generally there is no security or classified information contained in the logs so there shouldn’t be any need to zip or password protect the content as you would have to give the password or they couldn’t check the logs. Since it it a publicly available forum that data would be available.
Before you upload or cut and past the logs you can check them, for the most part you will have your user/account logon name in the reports but that isn’t really a big security issue and you could xxxxxxxx out ant user names if you though it necessary.
If you check these forums you will see the same thing, logs being posted so they can be analysed and help given.
