virus alert on pacific poker

hello, can anyone help me regarding this matter since yesterday i am unable to access the pacific poker site as it show up on avast as having a virus the file name is exe file. WIN32:Casino-d when i contacted pacific they told me since yesterday anyone using avast cannot log in because of updates on the avast anti virus dont like shutting avast down to access site as this is the only way to access then restart avast i use avast home edition 4.7. would be grateful for advice.

I play at Pacific as well and got the same alert. I just disabled the on access protection while I played. Hopefully this false positive (there had been no update to the Pacific software) will be fixed soon.

This is not a good policy.
Use the Exclusion list to remove the false positive only from scanning and do not disable all protection. Well, it’s an advice after all 8)

You should confirm the detection, possibly a false positive before taking any action.

You can check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner I feel virustotal is the better option as it uses the windows version of avast (more packers supported) and there are currently 32 different scanners.
Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. Whichever scanner you use, you can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.

If it is indeed a false positive, add it to the exclusions lists (Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add and Program Settings, Exclusions) and periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location. When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.

Also see (Mini Sticky) False Positives, how to report it to avast! and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

thanks for advice went to exclusion section and followed your advice thanks for the help its fixed the problem.

It hasn’t fixed the problem, just masked the symptoms. So if you haven’t already done so you should confirm the detection is a false positive and if so submit the file for analysis (see the False Positive link in my post above). That way it can be corrected and that helps all avast users who may use Pacific Poker.
