So I’ve had Paint.net installed into my computer for 5 years now, but I cannot remember where I downloaded the original installation file, since I was not as careful with software downloads back then and sometimes used general software download distribution sites. I found that installation file within my old default Downloads folder and decided to insert it into Virustotal as a test, but got a bit suprised on what two of the file names in “Additional information” tab were (especially weird since there was only one visible file in the folder):
“worm”
“Paint.NET.3.5.10.Install.zip.VIRUS”
Of course, I removed the ZIP as soon as I found this out, but I’m a bit uncertain what to do with this information. Given how I’ve used Paint.NET software I installed those 5 years ago actively without seemingly having any problems with the software itself:
Also I’ve used Avast for over 7 years and Malwarebytes over 2 years, and at least have not had any problems with viruses or malware during these last few years, at least given how I’ve performed several scans with both Avast and MBAM and also Farbar few times, and also some time ago with dozens of different security programs provided by experts on Geeks To Go forum when I wanted to make sure I didn’t have anything in my system, with every program showing clean. So could I make a possible conclusion of whatever possibly coming with the original Paint.NET installation zip being long gone?
