Virus Bulletin

The English Internet resource has published the next tests of anti-virus programs for a platform Windows XP.
Results of them speak about insufficient reliability of your program.
How you will comment on them?

I dont speak for ALWIL but. I would say Show me where you find this “insufficient reliability” crap!

Search for bulletin on the forums. The test aren’t that well done and gave Avast! a failure for a poor reason.

I’m just curious. If the tests done at VB are done so poorly (like many people say), then why do AV companies continue to submit their software for testing?

So they can get a little icon to put on thier site in hopes it will sell thier product.

Further more, avast! found aprox 99% of the viruses in the VB test. Its not like it failed miserably. Some people take things to seriously.

So they can get a little icon to put on thier site in hopes it will sell thier product.

It seem that the one company that doesn’t submit and seems to be well known is Panda. Thanks for your answer RedSector…

Your answer is too much emotional and not objective and looks like fanaticism.
If to this award a penny the price, what for it is placed on the main page of a site, for attraction of new users?
It would be desirable to hear opinion of developers.

No it’s not fanaticism, and that’s for sure… you should stick around little bit more, check this forum by it’s “width and hight”… you’ll find why we all are friends in here and why do we live for this product…

This product and especially this forum, has soul, as well as forum members. We are here to overcome all problems, to help each other and to ask for help if needed… we are not here to be fanatics. Don’t say that… MacLover is well respected member in here and we all love him so much. We will love you too if you stay and prove that you can be of any help to those new users who desperately needs our help…

Cheers !

Sasha

I work with computers for over 24 years. I run a computer repair store for 9 years and a on-site-service for just over 2 years. Next to that I am helpin people with computer problems in #windows95 on the Dalnet IRC network. My experience is that I never seen any a test result that truly objective. The test also look at the configurability and the way a application can be handled. This is just the interpretation of a human. Change the person, run the same test and you get another result. That is one. Another thing: No av software can or will ever be able to detect all viruses. First there must be a virus, and only then you can seek for/devellop a remedy.

Sergei
You described MacLover2000 of fanaticism.
Fanaticism can best be discribed by using the following synonyms:

zealot (one who is fanatically committed to a cause) Your right, he is committed to helping other people.

extremist (person with extreme views) Your right, he strongly believes in the ability of Avast! to keep his computer free of viruses.

monomaniac (paranoia; being irrational on one subject) Your right, on occasion Mac gets that way about his Apple Computers.

hothead (short tempered) Your wrong, he usually has the paitence of a Saint.

bigot (a person blindly attached to a belief to the exclusion of all other considerations) Your wrong, Mac makes as many mistakes as any of us do. After all, we are all mere mortals but, he’ll also be on of the first to admit that he’s made a mistake.

Actually, most of us on these forums fit into those same answers.

Hopefully this gives you a good idea of the type of people you’ll find here and we sure would like you to be one of us.
Peace my friend.

Great Post Bob.

Hey! Thats Just me

Sergei, MacLover, Sasha, Bob…
Let’s start again?
Peace.

Sergei, the tests are discussed a lot here. A lot of members know about their reliability, methodology and so on… Here, we will trust avast as you can see. Artras explained very well. Can you search the board for the word ‘Bulletin’? You will find a lot of it.

Join us in peace. Be avast! 8)

Amen! brother.

Sergei and the others:

I just search for your previous posts. Sorry for the intrusion but you had some different behaviors here in forums:

  1. asking for help: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=3855

  2. helping: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=4445 and http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=4417

You did not ‘come’ back on that threads… ::slight_smile: The users usually talk to ‘nobody’, to the walls… Now, here, again… you do not come back to the thread you opened :-\

But will you start now a new profile?

  1. blaming: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=4342

  2. this one… ???

I’m just trying to understand and help… But some threads I just can’t…
Maybe I have to shut up but some users continue to tell me to not do so

At this point, the same old discussion about the same old test is getting old. Perhaps the moderators should come up with a standard answer reply ONCE to these type of ANNOYING posts and then lock the thread.

Maybe, its just me but the search function is pretty much useless, so a standard answer would be great, or post the answer here and those of us who are regulars would learn it and pass it on to the noobs who come here, either to start B\S or genuinely want an answer.

Also “link” your claim so we can see what you are talking about. I haven’t seen the “insufficient reliability” claim.

Sergei,

All of the other members of this forum have answered your post quite honestly, factual, and without any hatred toward you or anyone else. You will have to go a long ways to find a better AV program (if at all), free or paid for. We have a better support forum with great members from the Devs right on down to members of my status. As mentioned before, there is no such thing as a perfect software program of any kind as long as its man-made, you should realize that. We wish you the best. If you want to join the forum you are welcome as the others have indicated. Hope you have a nice life.
