I am a regular user of the free version of Avast! For the past few weeks, when the program identifies a problem file, I get the following error message: Avast! Virus chest server is not running. RPC communication failed." What should I do?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot. - watch for any error/warnings during the install.
