On the new version of avast sound is not working on virus update window that pops up. Alert sounds are working though. Anyone had this problem? is a fresh install on my system.
Yes, it is known. Some have reported they get the sound, others - including myself - are not getting any sound/voice on VPS updates.
Ok Must be a bug in the build of the new avast! Maybe fixed on next programe update later?

Been there done that - both of them.
From a personal pov I am not too worried about the lack of sound on updates as I mainly use earphones and only put them on when I want to listen to something/someone. Pop-ups are fine but there are many who are missing the sound and do want it. Hopefully it is something the Avast! team will sort in time as it shouldn’t be necessary to jump through hoops to get it to work after downloading the program.

Yes do get some white/blue box with a loudhailer speaker symbol advert on the update of the virus data base. Is this issue of the sound going to be fixed like the older version of avast. Must be something in this build stopping it???. I LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THE DATABASE IS UPDATED SOUND! then i know that has done it ok!

Why would you go back to avast 8, certainly not for something minor like this, which doesn’t impact on security.
The function hasn’t been removed, but there is certainly some sort of issue with auto update notifications for many people:
- not receiving the auto update popup (or an unrelated tip popup, Avast Tip: FB privacy).
This essentially corresponds to an update having taken place, which can be conformed in the avastUI > Settings > Update section. - no voice over announcement after an update.
- for some the update stays displayed for longer than the set duration.

Dicided that avast 9 is ok for now. As the other alerts work on a virus test and alarm ok. The avast programmers will proberly fix this issue in the next build of avast with more tweeking from them
I upgraded to Avast 2014 on the 21st of this month. Today I received the first popup ever notifying me of a virus definition update. There was no sound with it. I clicked on “Read More” and the result was the page could not be displayed. Streaming updates ok as the figure changes to let me know how many have been installed in the last 24 hours.
