virus definition wont update unless i do it myself

I have to update my virus definitions manual even if it’s set to update automatic and it’s been like this since the last program update ,any way to solve it ?

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
