Hello there,
I have avast! free version on a Compaq laptop, using Windows Vista 2007 SP2.
It has been working fine for me with no problems until 11th September (4 days ago). Since that evening, I have been getting the avast! warning pop-up (red) telling me that the last attempt to update my virus definitions failed. Its says “click here to update now”. Clicking opens the avast! user interface on the Update tab (under “Maintenance”). When I click to update the virus definitions, the programme downloads file prod-ais.vpx, then I am told that my definitions are already up to date (today, it says I have version 110913-1).
But when I click “OK”, the programme tells me again that I am actually NOT up to date. This is the information displayed:
Current version: 110911-1 Release date: 11/09/2011 21:14:13 Number of definitions: 2,790,730Your virus definitions are out of date! Latest virus definitions: 110913-1
Last update attempt: 1 minute ago.
Updating the programme has not helped (I am also apparently up to date there too, to version 6.0.1289, which may or may not be correct)
How do I get over this? I just want to be up to date, and I want avast to know that it is up to date!
For info, I am permanently connected to the internet and I have the settings on automatic update.
Thanks in advance for your help.
