W32. pAVSEE.C HELP
Give us your Avast! Log and if needed download Malwarebytes 1.39 Free and again show us the log. Also Make a Hijackthis Log and show us the log.
Be sure you did these 3 things i did say and attach the logs for both. So we can help you more clearly.
Thank.
Mr.Agent
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe
- Or check the source file using notepad C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log and copy and paste the entry.
Make sure you download Malwarbytes because it does help a lot when you can post that scan.
That virus is very low threat as reported on Symantec’s website. Avast! will probably get rid of it with a boot scan.
Hi johnnym,
Pavsee.c is a virus that attacks .exe and .com files on disks C up to F.
After having infected it installs under a random name in the ‘program files’ folder with a name with a double extension as .exe.pif.
Then it gets an encrypted file from two internetlocations.
The virus can be found on the following Windows-versions:
Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows Vista, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000
The virus can be removed with this free online scanner: http://www.virusalert.nl/?c=spicylemon
Can be downloaded for free if you provide a valid e-mail address (NOD32),
