Greetings all, I ran a virus scan today and a message appeared “virus found”.I followed the instructions to move, but this did not appear to work. I then tried the heal option which resulted in a message appearing to send an e-mail to avast…it then shut down!
It seems to be working ok now, however I’m unsure if I still have this virus. Can anyone help?
Eddy

If you have a NT based system, run a boot scan

In order to help fully we need more information…
- What OS are you using? is it up to date?
- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
- What was the virus name, what was the filename, where was it found
example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)?
Depending on the location, etc. it may be protected by windows, so you can’t do anything with it, that is why Eddy suggested a boot-time scan, e.g. before it becomes protected by windows or is running.

It sounds like a crash… do you remember what exactly the message was? Something about a troublesome file, or just a program error?
Do you have any unpXXXXXX files (X = some numbers) in your \Data\Log folder?
Additionally, can you please answer DavidR’s questions?
Thanks.

David here’s all the details I’ve got;I had the message " virus was found" I moved it to chest as per instructions.Virus name was win32 dyfucdld-e(trj)
File name c/system volume information/restore b228d1d6-000f-4638-9 vps version 0505-2 o5/02/2005
The results of last scan screen all say “unable to scan” Then a runtime error appears"abnormal programme termination"appears and it freezes.
I really don’t know whether I still have this virus…can you advise?

Disable system restore and reboot, check and see if the you are clear (scan) and if so you can enable system restore again.
