Virus Found in Windows Folder- Kreper-1

Hi Team,

Avast! thankfully keeps deleting this virus but everytime I reboot more files are infected. How do I disinfect my system? Avast! tells me it’s the Win32: Kreper-1 Virus…

Kind regards

What file and in what folder?
What windows version?

If it is in the _restore\ folder,
disable system restore and reboot.

If you have trouble on disabling (and enable it after) System Restore see how to disable it: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

After it, boot again and run another scan and if your system is clean then enable system restore again.

The following files/folders are infected by Win32: Kreper-I;

C:\Documents and Settings\Master\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\TGTLRHX3\main[1].exe

C:\Windows\xvehkkss2n.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\Master\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\UB0VDU3U\main[1].exe

C:\WINDOWS\0zajs6io22.exe

Avast Virus Cleaner doesn’t affect this folders - Just says they can’t be scanned.

At least these two ones could be deleted with the Interned cache.
Can you schedule and run a boot time scanning?

I ran a boot scan - no good. What else can I do to kill this virus?

Click on the link in my signature and follow the instructions in the malware removal section.
Let us know if the problem is solved after doing so.

Please take your time to read and do as instructed on that page. Better slow and safe than fast and still infected.

Hi, I had the same problem a few days ago. Download Hijackthis from Eddie. You can also look in your C:\Windows directory for winini.exe and test.exe and delete them. Then run hijackthis and fix the line:

O4 - HKLM..\Run: [FX] C:\WINDOWS\winini.exe

That should do the trick.

You can also checkout my topic on this trojan. Just look for “drgooding”.

Good luck

Hi jakryan,

First off, you forgot the top of the hijackthis log, it will look similar to this:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 Scan saved at 21:09:25, on 31/01/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)

Also from what i can see, your system still looks infected.
Did you try all the applications/intructions on Eddys website?
