Virus, Help please.

Ok i turned my other laptop on and it all logged on fine, however once i reached the desktop clicking on my icons did nothing. I cannot click on anything, i scanned with avast which found a virus - Win32:NaviPromo ?? Im assuming this is the problem, but when i went to deal with the problem either delete or move to chest it just says access denied, i cannot access the internet even on safe mode. I have no idea what to do now, Please help.

Have you tried avast! boot scan ?

so if the above does not work you can try downloading these to a USB stick using another computer and then run from the usb stick, no install

click start. then click search and search for these to files. (make sure it searchs hidden files)

Thanks for all your time and help, i could not access the internet to download anything suggested, and whenever i plugged something into a usb port the computer just switched off, no idea whether this is linked to the problem or not. So i have reinstalled windows, full destructive repair? Now i am able to click on everything again, part of the problem fixed. Yet i go to open internet explorer and it just keeps saying stopped working then just have to close program, also theres no avg no so i am stuck as to what to do.

No avg? Were you using AVG antivirus?
