Virus in Chest Kuang2

I am very new to this, but I did a full virus scan, and it came up with a virus imscan.dll - the name of virus is Kuang2. Advised to put it in chest which I have done. Now what do I need to do? Have been reading that this could be false positive, but does this need to go back into my system. Have just scanned it in the chest, and it is still showing the virus. If I need to do something with it while in chest would you please let me know, and would you please give me specific instructions, as I am only just finding my way around Avast. Thank you very much.

Howdy Lucy,

Yes if you did an online scan with panda, and imscan.dll originated there, you could have a false positive on your hands. This is because of the definitions of Panda’s. If you seartch for this here on the forum, you can find more information on this. Online scans are a sort of second opinion or a way to close the vulnerability regarding the latest malware. An online scanner that does not interfere with Avast resident scanner is Bitdefender or you can download stinger.exe and run this.
Leave this file in the chest, no problem.

These are false detections due to Panda active scan: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=12432.msg104932#msg104932

IMSCAN.DLL

I think this is related to false detections due to Panda active scan: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=12432.msg104932#msg104932
Unfortunatelly, a well-known problem of Panda not encrypting its signatures :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, Panda has a lot to answer for by not encrypting its virus signature files, to be tripped over by the AV installed on your system when you next scan it.

There are many other on-line scanners that you can use periodically as a second check.

Thank you very much for your help everyone. I did use an online scanner when I quit my Norton to make a change, so must have picked this file up when I did that scan, but I will be fine now I have Avast. I will leave this in the chest, and if all is well, I will delete it at a later date. Avast is wonderful, I am very pleased with it.
