Virus in my monitor software

Hi !

Since the last Avast update, Avast detect a trojan in one of my monitor software. I’ve tried to delete it and install it but when i’m trying to install it Avast detect a trojan and my softare never start. The programme can be found on the Nec website here: http://www.necdisplay.com/support/main.cfm?thePage=http://www.necdisplay.com/products/support/Drivers2.cfm&title=View%20all%20drivers%20%26%20downloads

The software is Brightness Controller v1.00. This software is use to control Brightness on my monitor and i need it so is there a way to tell avast to not detect this programme ?

Thanks !

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner
Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.

If it is indeed a false positive, add it to the exclusions lists (Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced and Program Settings, Exclusions) and periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location. When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.

Also see (Mini Sticky) False Positives, how to report and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

i did the scan at http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and the results are rly weird coz avast found nothing…here are the results…

Try virustotal, more scanners and a different avast version(Ithink ??? ).

This is proving to be more and more common as virustotal does seem to be behind in the avast VPS updates. For a live site they will be at least a little out as I believe they don’t apply vps updates in real time. So they will often be behind the users version of the vps version.

This is more likely when you have just updated the vps and find a detection, which you suspect isn’t good, but in this case you are looking at what other scanners return.
