virus in system32/hp100.tmp

avast says to reboot because the virus is in the memory, and it will clean it so I reboot, but to no avail. what now?

Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.

Or just run:
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:*

 Hi Maivina :

"System32/hp100.tmp" is an indication you have a
SmitRem "infection", where Experts on an antiSPYWARE
forum can guide you through its removal . You should
ask for help on the forum(s) of your antiSPYWARE
provider; if you know of none, I recommend :
  www.landzdown.com .

Smitfrad actually :stuck_out_tongue: SmitRem is a removal tool for it
