Virus in virus chest what to do with it?-delete it?

Hi There, something i downloaded was picked up by avast a trojan and was sent to the virus chest, can i delete these 2 items?,whatever they are they are no good! win32:Trojan-ge?. :o

southern man

ps avast is best

Seems that you can…
But, why worry and hurry?
Files are save in the Chest, let them there, wait two weeks, for instance, rescan them into the Chest (to check if they were not false positives) and the delete them

I was going to ask the sam thing.

I did a scan and it picked up:

c:/windows/system32/pav.sig

malware win32: NGVCK-E

malware type virus/worm

VPS version 0632-0, 0810812006

recommend move to chest

OK, moved to chest. So now that it’s in the chest it is of no threat?

Most probably…
To be sure it is not a recurring infection:

  1. Disable System Restore on Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];310405
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.
  4. Use a-squared, ewido or Spyware Terminator (trojan removers).

Thanks for the advice have done as you suggested.

Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.

I don’t have a schedule boot time scanning. I am not using the Pro. Is it a Pro feature?

I will try a regular scan.

It isn’t a home/pro issue, if the option is greyed out then your OS doesn’t support this feature, it is for use with winNT, win2k and winXP.

What is your OS ?

I have win xp home

This is what I have when I right click on the icon and as you can see the ghost image is back.

No, you have to choose ‘Start avast antivirus’.
Then you right click the ‘skin’ and not the ‘icon’.
See, ‘Schedule…’
