Hi. I’m new to Ubuntu 8.04. When I scan with Avast, it says all my files are infected, but when I look at the report of the scan, no viruses are listed. Is it a false alarm?
All files infected or avast can’t scan?
Are you starting avast as root (sudo avastgui)?
Can you post a screenshot or the contents of the scan report?
There is nothing on the report, it’s totally blank. However, in the box on the main page where it lists infected files, it always gives the same number as the number of files in my computer. Also, if I just scan the home directory, it says no viruses - this is confusing. Thanks for any help.

If the report is blank, why are you saying that all your files are infected? ???
if you think your files is infected you can alway try to bootscan if bootscan didnt find it then there no infected file
OK. It must have been a false alarm. I used Avast in Windows for a long time with no problems, but Ubuntu still itimidates me. I need to learn more about the architecture of this program. Thanks
