virus name Win32:Gaobot-44 [Wrm]

i have found or got a
Win32:Gaobot-44 [Wrm]
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winhlpp32.exe
vps version 0311-5, 11.12.2003
and i need some help please

my outlook is partially crippled i cannot send emails only receive
(this is not a configuration error in outlook)

how do i remove this virus ?
and where did it come from ?

please help

system win XP
Avast personal (Free)
Kerio Firewall
Nvida gforce 200 Graphic card

Edit: NTFS volume.

Avast should be able to clean that Worm in windows safe mode or via a bootscan(?). Try it and say if it worked or not.
