Virus not detected by avast!

I just wanna report that avast cant detect the virus name c-setup.exe . The result of virus total is over here http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/6ac5f9519a57d68aa84d101c92f97bfc

Sorry because i’m lazy to send to avast for analysis. Hope the next VPS update will fix the problem.

I just got infected today by IE anti-virus as it keep annoying and hard to be remove from my system.

Please, don’t be lazy on helping improving detection…

I’ve posted elsewhere trying to help you on this.

Why can’t it delete it, what error messages are displayed, etc. ?

What actually happens from detection, the action you chose (send to chest) and it not being able to ‘delete’ as you say (does it keep coming back, etc.) ?

Where exactly was it detected, e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.

The sooner you send the sample the sooner it is likely to be included.

Please, don't be lazy on helping improving detection... Wink

:stuck_out_tongue: Can i send the file using hotmail to avast? Or I must need to send it trough OUTLOOK?

I cant delete it at the first time is because it keeps pop-up some error telling that “Your System Is infected” for each click i pressed on My Computer and trying to fool with their scanner that
my system contain trojan, virus, spyware and asking me to purchase their products to clean it.

So i just did a simple work to remove the stupid IE anti-“busted” ;D with Hijackthis and Revo Uninstaller. Im not sure this will 100% delete this damn fool but hope I removed it successfully.

You would need to send it through Outlook, if that is what is named as your default email account, it can’t be sent through a web mail account.

You have another topic on the go about the IE fake alert thing, if you had removed that then I wouldn’t expect it to keep popping up when you try and delete (as I’ve not a good first option) c-setup.exe, I don’t know if this is a part of your other infection/scumware.

I have no desire to cover ground that might well have been covered in the other topic, like malwarebytes and SAS scan, etc. as these have in the past proven effective against this scumware type infestation.

Why not? ??? Send to virus (at) avast (dot) com by webmail…

Why not, because it doesn’t have smtp access and as such can’t be sent from the chest using a web mail account.

Oh… from Chest… I’ve lost that part.
But ;D, if avast is not detecting the file, what is it doing in Chest? ;D

delete (as I’ve not a good first option) c-setup.exe, I don’t know if this is a part of your other infection/scumware.

Yup I think my sis download this c-setup.exe as she doesn’t know what is that or maybe other people fooled
her and she go and run the program.

But as I said avast cant detect the file as a virus and not sent to chest. So is that possible for me to send it using hotmail?

One way to find out, try.

You can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest (if it isn’t already there) where it can do no harm and send it from there (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). No need to zip and PW protect when the sample is sent from chest. A copy of the file/s will remain in the original location, so any further action you take can remove that. But, it has to be sent using an email client and not web mail when sending from the chest.

So if you have an email client already set-up it should be less hassle to send it from the chest.

Thanks for you information David but I don’t think I had email client set-up as I don’t use it.

You’re welcome.
