I have just installed avast 5.0.677 free on a lapton that had no virus protection at all and had been used for approx, 3yrs, with out of date Mcafee!
When 1st installed avast picked up 2 viruses. The problem is, now it won’t update its self neither can I manually update!!! Can anyone help with this problem??

Well Its possible that u can run updates automatically , But However, if the problems still occur, please go to >> MAINTENANCE >> there you will see program engine signatures u can run updates from there
Or simply, right-click the avast icon (next to time n date) u will see an option to run avast updates there.
If the problem still there, TRY TO REINSTALL AVAST

try the settings “direct connection” to the internet and “no proxy”!

Make sure McAfee is completely removed, over and above uninstall.
- You didn’t say which McAfee version, so here are the various tools:
- McAfee has an uninstall tool that you could run to ensure any possible remnants are removed.

never posted anything see if this works, I have avast 5 new its loaded but wont update cant connect to server, is it possible I have virus thats blocking this action, if so is there anything I can do?
