When logging on the option to load the VRDB was offered. Chose to download it but the icon has been spinning now for over 30 minutes. Should it take this long or has it failed.

When logging on the option to load the VRDB was offered
The offer to start "[b]building[/b]" VRDB was offered. The data base is built from you system. It's not downloaded and will be used in case you become the victim of a virus attack to rebuild destroyed, altered or deleted system files.
