Virus ruined resolution etc...

hey.

Avast found a virus on my system, (marked as trojan, it was called Win32… something) and the resolution is really crappy, the screen doesn’t seem to be working right. Had a hard time destroying the infected files, went to start → run → regedit and finally found the file (something like “A0022844.CPY” or something) and destroyed it… but the computer still doesn’t work. I know this information isn’t very detailed but was just wondering if something like this was going around and you’d know what I’m talking about anyway. I’ll give you a more detailed explanation tomorrow, if it’s needed.
If anyone knows anything, though, let me know. I can hardly read anything because of the crappy resolution and other things like that but I’ll do my best… heh… So yeah. Does anyone have any idea what virus this could be and how I might get rid of it, without formatting the whole computer?
The operating system is Windows ME, the computer is Compaq Presario.

Reinstall the video drivers.

Well it would be more easier with a more detailed explanation, as then we would know exactly what went on, do you know the file name and path of the virus? (location).

First make sure your graphic cards drivers are still installed

Have you tried right clicking your desktop and selecting properties, then going to settings and changing the colour quality to the best (True color?).

Then maybe changing the screen resolution (left of the colour quality option) to something like 1024 by 768.
