Virus Scan Keeps Failing?

I have the free version of avast. I scanned twice in a row because the scan reported that it failed to scan for viruses the first time and the same result the second. I think I may have misconfigured my scan settings, fiddled around with them too much possibly. Help is greatly appreciated! I have attached my dxdiag if needed.

I’m not entirely sure if this applies to all scan settings (but it should for the default scans).

Try AvastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting > Restore factory settings - Program settings (including default scans) & Shield settings.

I reset to factory default, and yes, I am currently doing a quick scan. It is working properly, I have yet to do a full scan to test it out. I really would like to know what I did wrong in the settings so I do not run into this problem again?

Unfortunately without knowing all of the settings that you changed, to see what might conflict, cause an issue it is almost impossible to say (and even you don’t know exactly what you changed).

For the most part the default settings are a balance in performance and protection. If you do make changes it is best to only make one at a time. I don’t know if you gave any screen capture software, it might be worthwhile to take an image of the default settings.
