Virus Serious problem

i am very well satisfied with the antivirus detection !!! But i have one serious probelem now:

-i have a pendrive which had a Virus Win32:Malware-gen the virus was present in the form of folder which had my project files !!!..

for example ’ Deva------------------------------------------.exe ’ now it had my programs in it.

  • the antivirus moved the folder to chest so the virus was gone but…I DONT SEE THE FOLDER NAME ON MY PEN DRIVE NOW :frowning: when i put the folder name on address bar and click enter i get the files in the folder…but there were so many folders in my pendrive now…I DONT REMEMVER ALL THE FOLDER NAMES…how can i get the folders back please tell me…

note: i had copied the file from my college the file had the proper name when i copied it on my pendrive the file name changed since then…there was an AutoRun virus present on that pendrive whenever i copied any file it changed the name of the file to ’ .exe ’ format i cant do with it…when i put the pendrive to my home pC the Avast Antivirus moved the virus files to chest and all the folders were gone…But the files in the folder are still there… i just have to remember the name of the folder and type it on the address bar and press enter to go to the file…

i cannot upload the virus file size greater then 200k so sorry…

i hope u got my probelem…suggest any solution…

when i put the folder name on address bar and click enter i get the files in the folder
.

if you can get the files in the folder, then enter the one of the files in the Windows search

  • that is, to search the computer, except set the search for only to search yr pendrive

when the file is located in search, then there will be an address of the location

  • the Folder will be immediately before the file in the address

thats a good try but i have thousands of files and folders in there so this makes a tedious job really…i have tried that and retrived some data but every time i get some data in my pendrive from college i get the same problem …

so it would be much better if i get the folders back…you see

ok deva 99.

the infection of that virus/malware is make the original folder hidden in properties and replace it with an foldername.exe file, you can see the original folder by:

Tools
Folder Option
View
Show hidden files and folder

if your folder option returned to hidden. your system is been highjack and need to scan with MBAM,

Regards!!

well deva99, you have had a virus serious problem, this is not going to be easy.

do you know how to make a screenshot of the page you are viewing?

(1) press the key Print Screen / SysRq at the right-hand top corner of yr keyboard
(2) open MS Paint and got to the Edit tab on the toolbar across the top of the screen
(3) select Paste from the drop down menu and to produce a picture of what you were viewing
(4) save the picture as a gif or a jpeg file

Now if you could provide a screenshot of what is in yr pendrive, say, for a start
Then we might have a better idea of what is yr problem

sorry, x-posted

sorry the file is not hidden as well also the file is not converted to protected system files …but THE FILES ARE NOT PRESENT THERE AS WELL… i scaned my pc …but no solution, many of my friends using different antivirus like AVG, kaspersky …are getting same problem…

no problem with eset users though because the file is not detected as virus there only the autorun file is detected as virus............when we double click on the file the " .exe" folder gets open .........and we required file ......now i know the eset has less virus definations but at least i get the gaurantee that the icon of the file then i can open it easy..............interesting na?

screenshots so we can see what is yr problem?

otherwise you might as well talk to yrself

and bong2x seems like he is familiar with this kind of infection so please good information as you can
work with the advise he gives you

yes the file originally is not hidden,

but when infected with that malware as i said that kind of malware will change the attribute of original folder into hidden and replace the foldername.exe files, and if the pendrive scan with avast the avast will delete the foldername.exe file and you cannot see your file because it is hidden. but if you will check the pendrive properties the file is still there.

will if in your case not the same, take your time to return it in infected computer and foldername.exe will return so you can acces again your original files ;D

Regards!!!
