Virus/Trojan filled laptop wants me to format Flashdrive

Hi,
I’ve had a nice laptop for a while that I was never smart enough to purchase anti-virus for, and it’s been in an only part-way usable state for quite some time now. When I got my new computer (A tower), I made sure to shell out some cash for some proper Anti-Virus software, and this thing has had about double the life span already. But anyway, I have three licenses for Avast, and I’m currently only using one, and I want to import the setup of Avast to my Laptop so I can clean it, rather than just system restoring it. (which I heard will not work if it has Trojans) I cannot access the internet on my laptop without it being overrided by some malware, and I cannot freely browse the internet (Most websites just automatically redirect). I have a flash drive that has all of the stuff I’d need to begin cleaning it without accessing the internet by a browser, but my laptop will not detect my flash drive properly. (Note- I don’t intend to entirely fix my laptop with anti-virus scans, I’m simply seeking to put it a more usable state so I can take steps to get it back to normal) Originally, My flashdrive that worked many times prior was listed as an I: drive, but when the malware started effecting my laptop, it was changed to a D: drive, which I’m pretty sure are disk drives (And my laptop doesn’t have a disk drive). I’ve gone through to system memory settings and changed the drive to be detected as an I drive, by my laptop still wants me to format it, and from viewing the windows prompt, seems like it will make my Flashdrive unusable.

Is there any way past this? Any help would be much appreciated.

(Quick note: This Laptop hasn’t been used in nearly a year, and I figure their are probably defined ways against any malware on it, not having been connected to the internet in such a long span of time. I don’t know what is effecting it, and to what extent it is effecting it, that is a question for another day. I’m just trying to stabilize the thing. Another piece of probably useless information is the fact that the Flashdrive model name is present in the My Documents section of Windows explorer, but it prompts me to connect it when I click on it.)

Hi,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

[*]Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Under Optional Scan ensure “List BCD” and “Driver MD5” are ticked.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
[*]The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
