Virus Update Packet is broken: 27.5.2007, version: 000744-1

Dear Sirs

Everytime now, since I could not update Avast Virus Data Base to 000744-1,
I try to update it and it notifies me that the packet is ‘broken’.

My Operating System is Vista Ultimate.

I wonder what the solution for this is… :-\

Looking forward to your reply

Stephen

bad net connection???
or bandwidth maxed out due to other downloads???
u can try mannually downloading the latest update file till the techies answer ur Q…

http://www.avast.com/eng/update_avast_4_vps.html

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Basically, check the log files (or post the last 100 lines of the log): C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log

Hello and thank you for your replies!
When I came back from work today, there was no problem updating.
It installed version 000745-1.
Does this mean that version 000744-1 is not needed?
I am quite new at the technical aspect of Avast, so please forgive my ignorance…
I think if I am correct that version 000745-1 would include anything in version 000744-1.
Anyway thank you again.
Cheers

Stephen

avast does incremental updates, this keeps them small in size and quick to download. Your update will have only included those VPS updates released after 000744-1 until the current one 000745-1.

These updates are incorporated into the general VPS file (400.vps), so the 000744-1 is just a reference point so avast knows what updates to include in the update and not actually a file, so you don’t need to take any action.

Shortly, yes.
New updates come ‘over’ the ‘missed’ ones… no problem.
