i just wanted 2 know , how 2 view file size of virus updates BEFORE downloading them ???
as am on dialup service …
I’m sure there’s a way (which someone else will fill you in on), but I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m on dialup too, and even a huge defs update is less than 100K – more typically, they’re around 15-20-30K and quite fast.
Typically the slowest part of updating is waiting for “setup” to find an available server.
Indeed. But, if he uses dialup internet, I’m sure he doesn’t stay all time connected, and doesn’t gets all the updates since the last time he updated avast. In this case, couldn’t it get to the megabytes? Also, a feature like that would be pretty handy and neat.
Only if he’s off line for a long time. Avast will check as soon as a connection is made. So 2 days, about 60k, still small.

I am also on dial-up and VPS updates usually take one minute or less to download and about one minute or less to install. These updates should not take more than 2 minutes or so from start of download to completely installed. As others above have noted, they are small. You can go about doing other things with your computer while all this is happening.
