Virus warnings from an unknown source op

Every day on my Samsung tablet I get security warnings from an unknown source . I have no idea what to do and It doesn’t happen on my pixel phone just my tablet.
I am not very tech savvy aged 89 so I hope someone can help

Not knowing what these “security warnings from an unknown source” are it is hard to even hazard a guess.

They warn me that I have 5 virus, now they are saying that my Google and Facebook accounts have been reported. I am not allowed to say who is sending these messages. I live in in the UK
Now it’s saying that my system needs a scan.
I am totally confused so I hope someone can help.

Hi Sheila,

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

This sounds more like a scam to take some action that could be worse.

I don’t know why you can’t name the source so I won’t press you on that. But it make it more difficult to suggest any option/s.

If this is from an individual email address/account you could block it. If it is from an app on your tablet that has any sort of security application, it isn’t wise to have multiple active security programs running as they could conflict.

Presumably you have Avast on your tablet, if so have you run a scan as suggested ?

I agree this does sound like a scam.

How are you seeing these warnings? are they texts or emails ? If so, do not click on any links.
If you are able to provide more information, then we may be able to help more.

Note: I am not an Avast team member, just another user.
