i have a virus? i cannot delete myself because response is - FILE USED BY ANOTHER PROGRAM… - what should i do - can someone test file? ilya
If you have XP or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.
What was the virus name (also in the avast log viewer) ?
hi - it’s one of the SYSTEMDOCTORS viruses - i will look for an uninstaller maybe availiable? thx.
Yes but what about the information I asked about in the questions.
I wouldn’t know what a systemdoctors virus was if I was hit over the head with it.
hi - you don’t understand - SYSTEMDOCTORS - pose as a malware remover!
it class - WIN32:Conhook:bs , trojan
i will try to get a uninstallr for it - when i find what program uses it i’ll fix it, avast does not remove it because it is in use, so i’ll find something else? frustrating!
Use RogueRemover from www.malwarebytes.org ![]()
Use boot time scanning of avast.
Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Check Archives, if you want scan all the archives.
Specify whether all the disks or just a specific folder should be scanned.
Select Advanced options for scheduling details.
Select how to automatically process infected files.
Choose how to automatically process infected system files.
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.
If infected files are found, it’s safer to send them to Chest instead of deleting them.
This way you can further analysis them.
Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast! The report file is created automatically in \Data\Report\aswBoot.txt
Fine, avast does NOT recognize the files as trojans, i used HijackThis - found the file - deleted it, then deleted the file that was used by first file, it RENAMED itself with a .VIR extention, both GONE, here!
2 FILES you can look at them - i know avast skips them - my computer has NO problems after i moved & renamed myself. ilya.
removed link so someone does not dload by accident,
sent to analsys. thx!
Glad you’ve succeeded.
Have you send them for analysis to virus (at) avast.com?
i will.ilya.
