Virus?

I’ve got a Windows XP-Pro box that appears to be infected with something but I can’t figure out what.

When I go to shutdown or reboot, I get a pop-up that says, “zgf not responding”. I have to kill it for the shutdown to proceed.

I can’t find any registry key with that value, any file with that in the filename, or any file with that string except for language
translation tables for Chinese input editor.

Avast doesn’t find it, I’ve tried AVG as well, and I’ve also run Ad-Alert, Adaware, and SpyBot programs looking for SpyWare or Adware, all to no avail. Windows defender of coarse doesn’t defend.

Anybody have an idea what this is and how to get rid of it? It appears to be related to Firefox in as much as I don’t seem to see it unless I fire up Firefox at some point before rebooting. I’m up to date on Firefox and Java as well as all Windows-XP Pro SP2 updates.

I’ve found two applications:
ZGF Professional Studio: http://www.arch.calpoly.edu/current/documents/ZGF-Syllabus-2078.pdf
ZGF Reader: http://www.safe.com/reader_writerPDF/zgf.pdf

Can you see if you can uninstall them by Control Panel?

They are not installed, if they were keys or files with zgf in them would have shown up, but they don’t show up in the control panel either.

So… if you Google, can you find anything related to zgf that could be installed in your computer? Maybe you should run a full computer on-line scanning:
Kaspersky (very good detection rates)
ESET NOD32
Trendmicro housecall
AVGas (does not necessary if you have AVG antispyware installed)
F-Secure
BitDefender (free removal of the malware)
HitmanPro (multiply scanners)
