Viruses

Hello, I am new to your forum. I just downlaod the scanner and scanned my computer at the normal setting.

Five viruses came up, but none of them could me repaired so I put them in the chest. Read somewhere on the forums that if I am unable to repair the virus infected files, I should contact you folks here!

Here are the virsus I have:

File Name: BlackBox[1].class
FileID: 5
Virus Description: JS:ClassLoader-2

File Name: DVND2TR.EXE
FileID: 7
Virus Description: Win32:Trojan-gen. {VC}

File Name: tmksrvi.exe
FileID: 4
Virus Description: Win32:Esepor [Trj]

Seems that two viruses that were ogrinal detected are no longer detected.

I hope that you folks will be able to help me out.

Any chance the trojans fill up the harddrive?

Donnie

You can email those viruses to the Alwil staff through the virus chest settings. Open avast scanner, right click to open the menu and select the virus chest. Then open the program/settings menus and set up your smtp email settngs. After that you can highlight the files you want to send. Select the file menu and email to Avast.

Chances are the trojan was ineffective unless you use an older version of MS virtual machine with Internet Exlporer.

Hi,
we need the full paths and filenames + the corresponding virus names
(see avasts report/logfile)

some sound like Spy/Ad-Ware

run spybot, ad-aware, cwshredder (links in the forum or per google)

General procedure:

what WIN do you have ?
Where exactly was the infected File found (full pathname and filename) ?

test the file with OnlineScanners e.g. from TrendMicro & Kaspersky to get a more specific name
(you need to temporarily disable AV-Resident Shields/Monitors to be able to scan the file online)

-remove the Virus/Malware and it’s system modifications according to VirusInfos from Avast, VGREP, TrendMicro, Kaspersky; you might also try searching for the virus name or filename with google

general removal procedure:

  • kill respective Backdoor/Trojan process with task manager
  • search for the file/process names in the registry; remove the malware’s startup entries in the registry
  • disinfect or (if disinfection is not possible) delete the file; this may be possible only after a reboot

-Secure your system (change passwords, secure shares, install patches/updates for WIN, IE etc…)
-scan your whole system with updated avast and maybe a 2nd scanner ,e.g. TrendMicro to check whether your PC is clean

Just curious, Y would we want to send in any viruses that we may have found?

I do not understand, is it so the alwil staff can figure out how to repair the files, i thought the best thing would be to just delete thet files?

confused - First_c ???

Hi,

you only send in viruses that avast didn’T detect, or if avast tagged a clean file as infected (false positive)
