Hello everyone,
Well just recently installed Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Who else has Windows Vista here? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?
Vista Ultimate 32 on a Dell Laptop and an Intel Zeon CPU 2.40 GHz 2 Processors
and XP2 Home on a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
Vista Ultimate on a dual core AMD64 2Gb Ram - no problem runs sweet as dream (so far)
Vista Business 32 bits on a HP Compaq nx6320 Core 2 Duo 3Gb RAM Laptop.
Vista Home Premium 32 bits on ACER AST690 RAM 1 Gb 320 Gb HD 1.6 GHz (Got me on that as I wouldn’t have bought anything lower 2 GHz!!!..). But I’m happy with it. Only problem: Vista Home Premium doesn’t allow you to fax like XP pro, you have to go to the ultimate version of Vista to get this feature. It’s more convenient to buy yourself a built-in fax-printer-scanner at this point… :
Does something like WinFax Pro not work, I have had that software for some time now, although I don’t use it much now. So I didn’t have to consider a hardware option.
I’m going to upgrade my RAM soon Vista seems to use a lot of it, especially with DreamScene…
Didn’t realize that the faxing feature was only in Ultimate, I hate how MS makes 10 different versions of their software…
I don’t think any fax software works. I tried to install one on my CD modem installation of my other computer on XP pro. The software installed. I faxed a 2 pages document. Only one page was faxed, then Windows Vista Home Premium made a Critical Exception, shut down inavertendly with black screen. I think it’s simply no fax friendly. Haven’t tried eFax. In fact, I want something free working on Vista without having to pay a fee to Microsoft!!!
Maybe it is the software not being compatible with Vista??
Maybe it is the software not being compatible with Vista?Change the compatibiliyt mode and try if it works that way.
No guys. Simple. There are many versions of Win XP, from Basic to XP PRO. The same goes with VISTA. And with VISTA BASIC & VISTA HOME EDITION you don’t simply have the fax feature. You must buy or upgrade to the Office or Vista Ultimate Edition. It’s perfectly legal for Microsoft. But not economically acceptable to me… Anyway, someone letme know if they could fax anything on VISTA HOME PREMIUM without any problems? I’m just plain cutious! :-X
I understand this, but with 3rd party software it shouldn’t matter which version of the OS you’re running, that’s why I was saying that it may be a compatibility issue with Vista because the software may be designed for XP and may not support Vista yet, this is why we suggested trying it in compatibility mode.
